A surprise winner emerged on Saturday as Dominic Cozzi powered away from a four-man group and finished with an estimated time of 1:35:59. Mike "Duke" Koerperich was the second rider in and Gary McCregor of Atchison took the third spot. Overall, the turnout of 10 riders was impressive considering nearly zero promotion and the lack of advance information on the event. The event is on ... we're going on May 23. It'll be 25 miles, starting in Robinson, Kansas looping through Everest and back. It'll be group ride style, but we'll let the first one back engrave their name on the SDR Cup. Continue

Mike "Duke" Koerperich claimed the 2008 SDR Cup yesterday by finishing first on the 23-mile course. The event itself was just a bridge to the 2009 event which will move to spring. It was decided to keep some consistency that we would try to get the event in the books for 2008 and focus on coming back strong in 2009. The start will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning in downtown Robinson, Kansas. Donations for the Missy Newell Fund will be accepted, but are not required. The Fifth Annual Sprint de Robinson is alive and well, but definitely scaled back. After struggling to put together a date and knowing that the logistics of several routes and categories was too much to take on in 2008, it was finally decided to go for a single ride on Saturday, September 27.
